Dear Jaguar Parents/Guardians:
Welcome back everyone! I would like to extend a special “welcome” to our new students, parents, and families. Whether you are a sixth grader or new to our Iron Horse community, we are very glad to have you here. Iron Horse is a great place for students to learn and grow. Please stop and introduce yourself to me should you ever see me around campus or the community. I would like an opportunity to welcome you in person if at all possible.
Welcome to New Staff
Please join me in welcoming our new staff members to the Iron Horse community.

Bell Schedule & Tutorial
This year we will have Tutorials on Tuesday and Thursday. The Tutorial periods will be 30 minutes embedded into 3rd period. We will also acquire a new software suite, Plus Time, that will simplify the sign-up and attendance process for Tutorials. We will not have Tutorials until the week of September 22 which gives our teachers times to teach many beginning of the year “learner behaviors” to students – organization, goal setting, etc. Please be on the look out for some Tutorial materials for parents. This materials will suggest different ways parents can partner with students and teachers to maximize the effectiveness of our Tutorial time.
Traffic Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Safety of our students, staff, and parents is my number one priority during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-ups. As you prepare for drop-off and pick-ups, please consider the following alternatives to utilizing our front parking lot which can become very busy:
If you must use the front parking lot, please follow the directions of staff members, be courteous to other drivers, and stay off your cell phones. Safety comes first!
Many of you may have noticed the City’s Alcosta Blvd project in front of our school. We learned of this project in early August. It will impact the afternoon pick-up time traffic situation by possibly closing lanes along Alcosta Blvd. Please avoid Alcosta Blvd if at all possible. A separate email will be going out with greater detail.
School Loop Information
For our new parents, we use School Loop as an important part of our communication system. To learn more about School Loop and how it can help parents stay connected to your child’s learning, go to www.powerofjaguar.net and click on the video on the left side of our website. All students will be shown how to create their School Loop login the first week of school. To register for your parent login, you will need to wait until after the first day of school to login. To create your parent login, you will need your child’s Student Identification (SID) Number, which you can get by logging into the Parent Portal or by simply asking your child. The SID can also be found on your child’s Student Body card which they will receive by the end of the first week of school.
Back to School Night
I would like to invite all of our parents/guardians to attend our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 3, at 7:00 pm. This will be great night to meet your child’s teachers and get a sneak peek at what they will learn this year.
Thank you again for your continued support of Iron Horse. We never take for granted the immense levels of support that we receive from our community. We are very proud of our school and the environment that students, staff, and parents have created here together.
Campus / Parent Portal has been experiencing high volumes of traffic creating brief outages
The Campus / Parent Portal has been experiencing high volumes of traffic creating brief outages. If you are unable to view your child’s schedule before the start of school tomorrow the students should proceed to the courtyard. In the courtyard there will be posted signs of each students 1st period class. The students 1st period teacher will provide them with printed schedules.
Schedule Change Procedures:
If you have any of these errors (missing class, duplicate class, incorrect grade level class) on your schedule, you must fill out a Schedule Change Request Form located in the Counseling Office.
We will not change any elective courses at this time. Students must attend class for the first day before requesting a change. Elective change requests are not guaranteed and will only be considered if space is available. No email or phone messages will be honored. Schedule change request forms can be found in the Counseling Office. All forms must be signed by a parent. Requests due to friends in other classes or specific teacher requests will not be considered.
