Welcome to the Art Room!
This is the start of my 13th year of teaching art and my 1st year here at Iron Horse. I have taught all grade levels with most of my experience being in High School and Middle School. In 1999 I graduated from Wittenberg University with a BFA in fine art (Ceramics/Jewelry design/metal smiting) and an Education Minor.
I try to do a variety of projects to find something that each student connects to. I realize that not everyone loves art I just expect that the students explore, tap into their creative side, and realize that art is everywhere around them.
All 6th grade students take a 6-week section in Art. This class is pass/fail and is just an introduction to what Art class would be like if they choose it for an elective in 7th or 8th grade.
If students choose to take art as an elective they will be introduced to all sorts of different styles of art, artist, and media. This class is graded and by the end of the semester students will have a toolbox of knowledge about creating art.
