Hello! 

I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Kathy McDonald and I have been teaching Computer classes, at Iron Horse, for 11 years.  I continue to be excited and honored to be part of the Iron Horse community.  I love teaching and thoroughly enjoy middle school students. 

Technology is constantly changing so it is extremely important to keep up with the latest trends. I learn so much from my students. They are a valuable resource. I am a lifelong learner, whether it be learning on my own, staff development at school or by taking formal classes.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with an Athletic Training Option.  I worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant at a trauma center for 15 years.  I earned a Physical Education Credential in 1989 from Cal State, Hayward and then a Masters Degree in Educational Technology in 2004. In 2004 I also earned my Computer Applications Credential.

I am beginning my fourth year as Iron Horse Middle School's Yearbook Adviser.  Students in yearbook class learn many important life skills while creating the IHMS yearbook and calendar.  My new staff seem motivated and creative and I expect another wonderful yearbook for 2011-2012.

It is a privilege to work with your students.  I love their enthusiasm and creativity!
